Kateryna D’Ayala, our Erasmus student who collaborated on the project, assisted the Conference Gruppo del Colore, held on 28th-29th November. She presented an oral presentation entitled “Influence of the binder on the susceptibility of the painting irradiated with a nanosecond pulse Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm”. The irradiation of the mock-ups was carried out with Pablo Barreiro, member of the New Materials Group (at the University of Vigo) and member of the Lasering team.
The evaluation and characterization of the tempera mock-ups were carried out between the scientific laboratories of the University of Vigo. The interest of this study is to contribute and expand the knowledge about the effects of applying a Nd:YAG laser (a conventional laser used in restoration) on pigments and tempera paintings working at 1064nm for cleaning soot deposits.
